Same day Porcelain crowns and veneers

Crowns are used to strengthen a weakened tooth and restore functionality. They are made from precious, semi-precious or non-prescious metal, porcelain or a mixture. Porcelain is the most aesthetically pleasing material used as it is the most natural looking and can be made to blend in with your teeth.

The crown fits over the tooth and protects against further damage such as chips, cracks and stains. 

Most dentists follow an old protocol which involves an impression of the prepared tooth. The mould taken is then sent to a laboratory where skilled technicians will fabricate the crown. In the meantime, a temporary crown is made and fitted onto the tooth under local anesthetic

At a subsequent appointment two weeks later, the area is anesthetized and the temporary crown is removed. The completed crown is tried on the tooth for fit, harmony with the bite, and appearance. Finally, the crown is cemented onto the prepared tooth with dental cement.

Here at Beatty Dental, we offer same day porcelain crowns and veneers. We have invested in equipment to modernise the whole process involving 3D scanning rather than taking impressions. A digital design of the restoration is created and a porcelain crown is fabricated in-house. The benefits are; you would only need to make one visit to the dentist, have local anaesthetic administered once as opposed to twice, and avoid the risk of losing the temporary crown.
